Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH)

Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy, also known as LAVH, is a procedure that uses laparoscopic surgical instruments and techniques to remove the uterus through the birth canal. LAVH is often performed on an outpatient basis and typically takes about one hour to complete. Benefits include reduced scarring and a short post-operative recovery time, which can be as little as a few hours after the surgery; to a day or two depending on the patient's condition. Many patients can return to work and normal activities within 1 to 2 weeks.
